Lisa Tenzin-Dolma

Founder and Owner of The ISCP

Lisa is the founder and Owner of the ISCP, and was the facilitator for the birth of ICAN, the International Companion Animal Network, an umbrella body for organisations and education providers who use and teach purely force free methods. Lisa developed the gentle Sympatico method of working with dogs that is now used globally. She has a medical and counselling background and is also qualified in Emotional Intelligence. In 2009 she was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Humanities for her lifetime achievements.

Lisa founded the Dog Welfare Alliance, which brings together dog owners, behaviourists, trainers, health professionals, rescues and organisations around the world to promote dog welfare and positive training methods. You can find it on Facebook, too. She also founded The Dog Helpline, which is now owned by Theo Stewart. Until 2018, Lisa was Chair of  The Association of INTODogs.  She was Education and Career Development officer for INTODogs until 2019, and has remained on board as a patron of INTODogs and their rescue arm, INTORescue. Lisa is a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. She is the ambassador for HumAnima CIC, which provides counselling and animal assisted therapy.

She has had 34 non fiction and fiction books published, including several full-length books about dog behaviour. The Heartbeat at Your Feet, published by Rowman & Littlefield, is available in hardback and on Kindle. Dog Training – The Essential Guide was published in paperback and as an e-book by Need2Know Books. Her latest books are Charlie, the Dog Who Came in from the Wild with a foreword by Marc Bekoff, and is about how Lisa rehabilitated her adopted Romanian feral dog. The “Supposedly” Enlightened Person’s Guide to Raising a Dog, co-written with Kac Young, came out in August 2017. Emotional Healing for Dogs: Combining Bach Flower Remedies & Behaviour Therapy, was published in 2019. Lisa has also written a mini-book for rescues and adopters, Adopting a Rescue Dog, which is available as a free PDF file here.

Lisa lives in Bath, England. She reads all of the coursework and assesses the final thesis as well as unit coursework.
