Karen Irwin

Tutor

Karen Irwin is an ISCP graduate and tutor and is the owner and founder of The Crate Escape.

Karen worked in London for an Insurance Broker specialising in Medical Malpractice for 17 years and one day decided that life was far too short to be so unhappy in your job, so she decided to pursue her true passion in life and her dream of working with dogs.

Karen founded The Crate Escape in 2011 and has subsequently obtained a Diploma in Canine Psychology from Open College, as well as a Diploma in Canine Behaviour from The International School of Canine Practitioners (ISCP).

Karen is qualified in Pet First Aid and is also fully insured with Cliverton.

Karen is a member of various organisations, such as The Association of INTO Dogs (Associate Member), Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (Associate Member) andThe Dog Rescue Federation (Full Member), as well as being a Trustee and the Essex Area Coordinator for the Labrador Retriever Rescue Southern England (LRRSE). Karen is also extremely proud to say that she is a Professional Member and Benefactor of the Dog Welfare Alliance.  Karen wholeheartedly supports other organisations such as Yellow Dog UK.

Karen regularly attends seminars and educational events to ensure that she is kept up to date with the latest research and development in dog behaviour and the canine world.

Karen lives in Orsett, Essex with her partner Paul, their three dogs Dylan (Dalmatian), Lexi (Chocolate Labrador) and Perdy (Black Labrador), Lorelai the tortoise, Betsy the Hamster, Cinnamon and Pumpkin the Mini-Lop rabbits and their fish! As you can see, Karen is a true animal lover.
